Astrologers read and interpret star charts. This is much like practitioners in other scientific and medical fields do using charts for their own specialties.
How does this work?
The process is one of identifying the basic elements, understanding how each one works, then interpreting how they will work together. Each of us goes through this same process so often in our daily lives that we barely notice.
Let’s start with an analogy in food then move on to astrology.
Imagine that you are given a New Mexico chile, aka Capsicum annuum. Depending on the growing conditions, the flavor of this pepper changes. Also, depending on how one uses it, the effect changes. Steep the chile in a cup of hot water and you get a pungent tea. Drop it into a batch of soup with little or no other spices and you will distinctly taste the pepper. What happens when you drop it into a stew that is already heavily spiced? The effect will be subtler and will blend with the other flavors. A chef (aka food scientist) enjoys the difference and can predict the outcomes.
Astrological interpretation has similarities. The reader (aka astrologer) understands the nature of the planets, houses, and zodiac signs. Based on the combinations and relationships involved the reader connects the dots of data into a full picture.
Astrologers work the same way as other scientists.
